Taxonomy
Noctuelia sp. 5 an un-named specimen from W. Malaysia (GTE) in the HSB Coll.
Description
A morphotype with considerable areas of pale scales on the distal part of the FW and the proximal part of the HW. The FW base is blackish. The HW has a broad purplish subtermena band which has two black patches towards the subcosta. There is a small orange mark in the centre of the HW. The thorax is brown as is the abdomen but that has two white segments at its base and a series of dorsal white patches elsewhere.
This species was previously placed as Noctuelia, though that genus was found to be a junior synonym of Cynaeda. Generic placement remains uncertains, as this species may be Leucinodes.
